Achieving symmetry, balance, and one’s desired Aesthetic may require the use of fillers. Fillers can provide many benefits. They can be used to contour, augment, reconstruct, enhance and restore. Fat Fillers and Synthetic Fillers are the two types of fillers used by the Aesthetic industry.

Fat Fillers

Fat Fillers can be used to increase the size or reshape the buttock’s or breasts. Fat fillers can offer volume and smooth the skin resulting in a rejuvenated appearance for some areas of the face such as the cheeks.

Fat Fillers are procured through the extraction of fat elsewhere on an individual’s body. Fat is commonly removed from areas where it is unwanted via Liposuction. These areas include the hips, thighs, stomach, or buttocks. Small Volume Liposuction allows for fat on the knee’s, back, or side (‘love-handles’) to be targeted.

Once removed, the fat then undergoes a complex separation process. This technique has been refined considerably since its inception. This is important to note because these new procedures help ensure that the Adipocyte cells stay alive. These cells play a vital role in aiding the body’s ability to re-accept the fat filler when it is re-injected. The body will actually develop a blood supply to the re-introduced fat cells to keep them alive and thus the results are long lasting.

Fat Fillers are unique in that they are bio-compatible. As they are completely made up of your own body’s fat cells they do not carry any risk of adverse or allergic reaction. While more than one treatment might be required to achieve your desired aesthetic, the results they offer are considered as permanent. This is great for those looking to forgo regular “touch-up’s”.

Procedures utilizing Fat Fillers may require a few days of downtime for recovery to allow for any swelling or bruising to disappear. It is natural for the body to re-absorb some of the fat injected (a fact taken into account when determining the volume to be injected) – the final results can be seen after several weeks pass.

Synthetic Fillers

Synthetic Fillers can be used to add volume to the Brow, Cheeks, Lips & Forehead which eliminates fine lines & wrinkles. They can also be used within the Neck, Chest, and Hands to create youthful volume resulting in balance & symmetry. When used in the nose area, it can be considered a non-surgical Rhinoplasty.

Synthetic Fillers are scientifically formulated and made according to strict industry standards and protocols. They are often based on bio-identical substances that the body creates naturally. Examples of this include fillers such as HA-Hyaluronic Acid, Poly-L-lactic Acid, or Calcium Hydroxylapatite. Along with these naturally occurring compounds they carry additional ingredients that are dependent on their intended use.

Synthetic Fillers are by no means a one size fits all approach. Increasingly specialized – they offer a range of particle sizes and viscosity. These ranges allow for different fillers to address a spectrum of areas & conditions – in an individualized way.

Synthetic Fillers are employed with very fine gauge needles or blunt tip cannula’s. They are measured out with exactness and often a minute dose delivered precisely can create the desired affect.

Recovery time is generally not needed after receiving Synthetic Fillers. Results can be seen immediately with some fast-acting dermal fillers, whereas others will work to create the intended affect more gradually. Some Synthetic Fillers can last upwards to 14 months. The results are not considered permanent, as such they will require regular maintenance.

Importance of Experience

Regardless of the type of filler. A vital requirement to success is the Medical Doctor performing the treatment. The importance of experience should not be under-stated when it comes to receiving fillers. The doctor you choose should have a thorough knowledge base from which to appropriately recommend/choose products based on your unique health history and Aesthetic goals. Skill in precision placement, ease with use of implements, familiarity with procedure, and an utterly hygienic treatment room are paramount.
